IMO, deleting the old keyring is not a good thing to do as as you end up loosing all the passwords it stored ..
The suggested way is to go to "Applications -> Accessories -> Passwords and Encryption...

Well I also had a similar problem .. i figured out the solution.

open your vsftpd.conf file .. for me it was in /etc/vsftpd.conf.

There you will find the following line :

Default installtion of Ubuntu denies TCP connections to Xserver.
