Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Hey Steve, I added my nomodeset according to the brief instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidLynx/ReleaseNotes#Working%20around%20bugs%20in%20the%20new%20kernel%20video%20architecture

    For...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Interesting to see all the developments. I added the 'nomodeset' to my grub a few weeks ago and it worked perfectly. My IBM T30 is sleeping and resuming just fine as far as the backlight goes.

    Now...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Since my system is current 2.6.32-22-generic, I would assume it was -21-generic that worked. However I think it may have been a fluke. Now my system will occasionally fail, perhaps 1 of every 4...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

I hate to say this, but the update that came out yesterday for me screwed my system up again. Again it was a kernel update. So I had about 24 hours of a properly working system!

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

There was an update distributed yesterday (at least on my system) that included a new Kernel. Now my system is sleeping and waking just fine. I need to experiment and take the scripts I had installed...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Maybe if we restart a new thread that would help? http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=9390739#post9390739 is my start, but if you want to pile on so we can get some attention to this issue that...

[ubuntu] Ubuntu 10.04 suspend/resume not working

and then a little digging and investigation pointed to the video quirk handling system/HAL:

finally I tried moving the video quirk handling into the userscript space with some success in...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

I really think this has something to do with HAL or the video quirks not being called correctly. If I copy 98video-quirk-db-handler from /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d over to /etc/pm/sleep.d (the user...

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Ok, I am doing some digging into this and looking at my logs from prior to the install, when the suspend/resume was working and now. It appears that the video quirk handling system is not working....

Re: ubuntu 10.04 - Suspend, Hibernate not working

Sorry to say but I am having identical issues to those posting previously. Mine is an old IBM T30 with an ATI Radeon video card. It took me only a few minutes to get sleep on Jaunty working on it,...
  12. [ubuntu] Upgrade to L. Lynx for old IBM T30 - suspend/resume not working

I really hate myself sometimes when I think I might be missing something and upgrade my computer. Every time I have upgraded my laptop I have broken Sleep/Resume for sound and the LCD backlight.

[ubuntu] Re: ntop hogging cpu after upgrade

So I narrowed it down to NTOP starting up whenever I resume from suspend. It definitely takes the balance of the available CPU, so pegs the CPU at 100% for as long as I keep it running. The only way...

[ubuntu] ntop hogging cpu after upgrade

After my upgrade to Karmic Koala, my machine has been running really slowly. My conky script is showing ntop is constantly running and hogging up to 80%, but a minimum of 45% CPU. If I kill ntop it...
  15. [ubuntu] [solved] Re: Message indicator not working, shows up as black rectangle

Adding the Option "renderaccel" "false" worked perfectly. I can now see the system monitor and any other apps that were previously big black objects on my screen.

    Thanks!
  16. [ubuntu] [solved] Message indicator not working, shows up as black rectangle

  17. [ubuntu] Re: PCI Wireless disabled on resume from suspend

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4914094&postcount=32 had the solution. The answer is to modprobe -r ath-pci and then reinsert it upon resume. The trick is to ensure the 49filename file is...
  18. [ubuntu] Re: PCI Wireless disabled on resume from suspend

  19. [ubuntu] [Solved] PCI Wireless disabled on resume from suspend

[Solved]I have an IBM T30 laptop with a TrendNet TEW-441PC wireless PCI card. The wireless card, only 3 days old for me, works fantastically and was $10 from Buy.com. Can't beat that!

    The card...

[ubuntu] Re: Update Manager update troubles

Awesome, it worked. I did need to allow the system to overwrite menu.lst, and then had to manually go back and fix it. Apparently the "three way" merge isn't quite 100% just yet and that is why the...
