    In 11.10 Unity, when I resize a window, I get a light-orange overlay showing me the new size.

    Can I change this color? I got rid of all the rest of the orange in my shell, but I haven't figured...

    The Unity plugin was disabled, but unfortunately these steps didn't work for me.

    I opened the compiz config app and clicked "preferences". Before I could even do anything, my shell crashed.

    Hm. So gnome-volume-control shows PCM sliders, and those work great. But I'd like to do this via the command-line if I can, so I can write a script to set my volume to the appropriate levels.
