This is for ubuntu, given that kde 4 seems to have a very good widgets support. I think it's time to have nice & low cpu consuming widgets on gnome too: screenlets are good, but are somewhat heavy.....
And maybe it won't take 2 weeks to login to your desktop as compiz does...:(
