Crucial points:
#1!! When asked to choose between plans in the set-up, tick 'My plan is not listed, or, None of the above, etc
and enter APN as telstra.bigpond.
<---- i run telstra.internet as APN not bigpond. cause im on prepaid not a bigpond service. i tried that apn but couldnt connect properly,
another thing ive noticed. when the connection drops out the modem also dies. i have to uplug it wait untill it comes up disconnected from network then plug it in again other wise it doesnt show up in network manager thing {but it doesnt always show back up}.. ive also sent the ztrun=8 cmd to stop the autocd feature. and someone else sugested the AT+zoprt=5 {which is supposed to set it to always online.
but the zoprt= doesnt work cause it fully drops out still
EDIT: Edit it, and ensure that under IPV4, method is "Automatic(PPP)"
and under PPP Settings tab,under Compression, untick all but TCP header line.
And Tick Available all users. <-- this seems to have fixed it. i had all this done before i stuffed something up and decided it was easier to do a reinstall
